This week on the program we celebrate the biggest night in blues, the 2019 Blues Music Awards (BMA) presented by The Blues Foundation. The BMAs always kick off the night before with the induction ceremony for the Blues Hall of Fame, also broadcast on Beale Street Caravan. On this week’s episode, we have highlights from the awards program including performances from Bobby Rush, Eric Gales, William Bell, and many more.

This week on Beale Street Caravan we’ve got one of the newest, most exciting groups on the Memphis scene, Black Cream. The band joined together two years ago. The four members Derek, T.O., Courtney and Chris are Memphis natives with years of experience backing others and playing solo. Black Cream combine melodious vocals over power trio instrumentation for a sound that is as edgy as it is soulful. They released their first single, “All I Need Is You,” earlier this year. Check out Black Cream on this week’s show.

This week on BSC we feature a performance by Jericho Road Show from the Mighty Mississippi Music Fest during Bridging the Blues. The group is a collaboration between well-seasoned Americana Roots & Blues musicians Rambling Steve Gardner, Libby Rae Watson, Wes Lee and Bill Steber. All successful artists in their own right, together they create a powerhouse.

This week on Beale Street Caravan we have the Finals of the 2019 International Blues Challenge. For 35 years, blues societies from all over the world have been sending their champions to Memphis to represent on Beale Street, making the IBC the biggest week in blues. First on the show, we’ll hear from the runner ups, then, in the 2nd half of the show, we’ll hear the winner of the solo/duo category, and the winner of the band category.
